Security and Real World Threats
Wednesday, 12 November, 8am – 9.30am
Kiandra IT, Level 28, 570 Bourke St, Melbourne

Last year was the worst year for data breaches in the last 10 years. Trend Micro says cyber criminals are unleashing 3.5 new threats per second, and the Ponemon Institute’s research shows that on average, Australian companies had data breaches that resulted in the greatest number of exposed or compromised records globally.

This must-attend, free event will take you through the cause and effect of breaches and arm you with some easy ways to improve your security stance and lower your risk profile.

K-Nights Mix and Match November
Thursday, 13 November, 6pm
Kiandra IT, Level 28, 570 Bourke St, Melbourne

We’ve got an interesting mix of topics on the cards for you this month. Join us for pizza and drinks to hear more about:

Datatium – the material for Contextually Responsive Design
Presented by Andrew Fisher, Chief Technology Officer, JBA and Interaction Researcher, Rocket Melbourne

The current trends surrounding responsive web design are just one part of an overall move towards more elastic experiences. An elastic experience may take place in part in the browser, however it extends well beyond simply media queries and image sets.

This isn’t a talk about media queries or “big data” analysis. Rather, it will focus on how data can be used as a material during design – an idea known as “Datatium” – and how this can lend itself towards creating contextually responsive experiences.

Emotional intelligence and dealing with clients
Presented by Mick O’Neill, Desktop Engineer, Kiandra IT

Emotional intelligence, what is it? How does it benefit you in work and life? This presentation will discuss the general concept of emotional intelligence, why it’s critical in a professional environment, and discuss some general tools you can use to improve your own emotional intelligence.
