New research by Acronis and the Ponemon Institute has revealed that many businesses are choosing to ignore bring-you-own-device (BYOD) policies and security steps such as employee education.
Despite knowing the concerns and risks involved with not securing your BYOD, the majority of Australian companies fall short on securing critical data.
Simon Howe, a sales director at Acronis, told IT Wire that personal devices have changed the way in which companies do business and have had a positive effect on the workplace. However, businesses need to step up in terms of security.
Without efficiently securing critical data, organisations leave themselves open for theft, corruption, hackers and malware.
Howe believes that one of the biggest reasons for failing to properly secure BYODs is a lack of time. Staff seem so busy these days, he said, that security often gets pushed down the list of priorities.
