5 tips to mental resilience

Mental resilience is defined by our ability to successfully adapt to life and bounce back in the face of adversity — and it's a topic we can all benefit from learning more about. Life (and work) rolls on like a train on a schedule, and some days we roll and some days we struggle to even get to the platform. Currently, a quarter of all employees view their jobs as the number one stressor in their lives, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Scary stuff. Mentally healthy workplaces are something a growing number of businesses are striving to create – which is fantastic. But, while it is employers who need to do much of the heavy lifting when it comes to creating a working environment that fosters good mental health, employees have a critical role to play too.

What does single sign-on have to do with customer experience?

Far too often, I encounter the same scenario with new potential clients. So it comes as no surprise to me that clients get sucked into falling in love with an application - either a Software as a Service (SaaS) or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) product. On the surface what is not to love? These products offer a wide array of useful (and not so useful) features, their cost seems to be within the project budget, they offer slick videos that mostly align to the problem statement and there is plenty of healthy competition. But, like most things in life there is a catch. The catch is that the product or service may negatively impact your customer experience.

Move over MVP

So do you give the client what they ask for or what they actually need? In true consultant style the answer is “it depends”. If the company is looking for a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and the focus for them is “minimum” then that is one thing. However, unless you are a fan of the 1960’s American movement, then it’s unlikely that you actually like minimalism.

One of the coolest things about being a technical account manager, is the opportunity to see how the same technology is implemented across many different industries and customers. One technology that is widely adopted across industries and customers is the humble content management system (CMS). For most organisations, the CMS gets relegated to being treated as a poor cousin of their fancier and more fashionable Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms. While common, it doesn’t necessarily mean their CMS is not just as important or mission critical, but instead, it just doesn’t get as much attention.
