History.

Globally awarded Microsoft Partner of the Year, Telstra Medium Business of the Year and ranking as a top Australian employer in the Best Places to Work for seven years running, Kiandra operates from Melbourne, Perth and Toronto. Founded in 1995 by Cam Brookes and Mart Cooperwaite, we’re a passionate team of 50 Kiandrians that specialise in rapid software development.

  • 1995
    Kiandra begins

    In a garage (like all good tech companies do), on Kiandra Close in the leafy suburb of Greensborough, Kiandra was born. Just Cam and Marty, a couple of Pentium-60s and many an evening building Access databases and Visual Basic applications. Good times…

  • 1998
    Welcoming our first employee

    Enjoying early growth, the time was right to start bossing someone around — his name was Daniel. He had to sit on a milk crate on the first day — we’re glad to say our induction process has improved since then.

    Surviving the IT tech crash

    We’re not referring to the much-feared Y2K bug, we’re talking about the dotcom bubble! There’s nothing like an industry crash in the early years to toughen you up. We survived so it’s: Kiandra 1, industry 0.

  • 2009
    Winning a Microsoft Global Award

    To much surprise, a little dev house from Melbourne won the Microsoft Global Partner of the Year for Application Development! We felt simply the best walking on stage to Tina Turner’s iconic song in front of Steve Bulmer and 10,000 fellow geeks.

  • 2012
    Setting up home in Perth

    A few clients and some amazing people (who are still with us) live out west — so Perth became our sunny, second home.

  • 2017
    Opening our Toronto office

    Thanks to a successful global ordering platform implementation in Melbourne and New Zealand, we expanded into Toronto, Canada to address client demand. We’ve made lots of new friends and eaten too many Timbits.

  • 2019
    Earning an OutSystems Global Award

    Low-code emerges and Kiandra upskills on a leading platform called OutSystems. We smashed out an amazing project for WA Health and won a global award for it — the OutSystems Partner of the Year (AUS & NZ). Great win team!

  • 2020
    Unveiling our new colours

    In 2020, We decided to divest our Managed Services business and focus purely on the growing demand for rapid software development. While we sorely miss our Managed Service family, the new Kiandra brand launches and we’re excited about the next Kiandra story!

We’ve been fortunate to win a few awards for our work, including the global award for the Kentico Best Financial Services site and OutSystems New Partner of the Year (2018) and Partner of the Year (2019). We’ve also been named the Medium-sized Business of the Year at the Telstra Business Awards and ranked on the Deloitte Technology Fast50 list and the CRN Fast50 list. 

And we’re proud of the culture and environment we’ve built for our people. We featured in the ‘Best Places to Work’ list seven times, and we were named one of the ‘Coolest Companies in Tech’ by Job Advisor three times.

Our team hold a variety of tertiary certificates, diplomas, degrees and master’s degrees — including qualifications in Agile practices, Scrum C, design principles and web accessibility standards. These are complemented by certifications in Kentico, OutSystems, Prince2 and PMBOK, as well as Microsoft. 

We encourage our people to continue educating and maintaining a high level of partnership and certification to ensure we bring the best methodologies and tools into our work with clients.
