Content Management Systems (CMS) are websites, Intranets or any web
based system that allows you to change the content yourself without
requiring IT support.
Static content kills sites. Content management systems (CMS) allow
authorised people in your organisation to publish content (i.e., update
your website or Intranet) painlessly - like any other document.
Depending on your particular requirements, content changes can either
be seen immediately or can go through an approval workflow. Most CMSs
have built in version control so rolling back changes is effortless.
By updating your content regularly you’re saying to the search engines,
"come back and check here often" - the result of which is usually a
higher ranking and therefore more visitors to your site.
CMS’s are not limited to just public websites. You might have a subscription based course curriculum, internal training manual or collaborative knowledge sharing wiki, all of which are important to be kept current and up to date. Content management systems don’t have to be ‘free text’ either – you could also have a CMS that caters to highly structured data. For example when recruitment agents list positions and accept applications online it’s important that key fields are captured.
How Kiandra delivers content management systems

For something partly 'off the shelf' we highly recommend Dot Net Nuke
(DNN) based solutions. DNN is quick to modify, highly customisable and
very easy to use. It also offers ‘simple update and go’ or approval
based editing along with the ability to define and mange ‘sub portals’.
DNN is built on Microsoft SQL server and ASP.NET. For the larger
enterprise we recommend Microsoft SharePoint. SharePoint contains
powerful security (integration with your Active Directory), workflow
and search features. It also offers out of the box support for wiki’s,
document management and content publishing from within the Office suite
of tools. If your needs require a more bespoke solution Kiandra can
customise DNN though module development or SharePoint via webparts.
Alternatively we can roll our own solution, unique to your requirements.
At Kiandra we recognise that ‘content is king’. So along with ensuring that you can organise and edit your content quickly and efficiently, we also ensure the less glamorous areas are covered, including:
- Having the ability to add Google (or other third party) tracking code so you can monitor traffic.
- Generating search-and-user-friendly url’s. Obscure url’s are no longer acceptable. For content to be discoverable and to offer the best user experience, your users should be able to guess and hack your urls.
- Optimising page loads. Content first, styles second, scripts and images last. This simple formula keeps your pages loading lightning fast while still being accessible to screen readers and mobile devices.
- Maintaining standards. We do our best to ensure all pages are XHTML and CSS standards compliant and contain relevant meta data.
Content management system experience and certifications

Kiandra has been awarded the Microsoft Worldwide Partner of the Year
2009 for our software and web development skill, design and quality. Kiandra’s team has extensive experience with DNN (DotNetNuke) and
Microsoft Sharepoint. In addition, our industry certifications and
experience in .NET mean we can rapidly extend these platforms and
customise them to suit effectively any requirement.
On the server side we specialise in Microsoft’s Windows line of
Servers and the .NET platform. Leveraging this platform gives us a wide
range of technologies to choose from for which to pick the most suited
for the task at hand.
Silverlight (or Flash) is perfect for rich, interactive screens and our design team are known for their elegant and ‘clean’ user interfaces which are streamlined to load as quickly as possible while still maintaining a intuitive user experience. This is aided by the use of cascading style sheets (CSS), AJAX where appropriate for automatic updating without page reloads and rigorous rounds of ‘optimise, optimise, optimise’.
Our team collectively holds tertiary certificates, diplomas, degrees and masters degrees, and Microsoft MCP, MCAD, MSQL, MCSD and MCPD certifications. All have had satisfactory state and federal police checks – National Names Check and/or Police and Fingerprint Search (Australian).
