Global Connect e-commerce platform
Overview
Global Connect is a provider of pre-paid mobile phone and financial services, primarily to temporary/working visa holders who plan on staying in Australia for an extended period of time.
Global Connect required a robust, mission critical, scalable and fully redundant solution with software and database architecture to support upwards of 60,000,000 transactions a month.
Kiandra architected, developed and delivered a full end-to-end web based e-commerce platform to collect information from temporary/working visa holders, aiding them in establishing essential accounts such as pre-paid mobiles and payment cards and managing the logistics and integration with the various suppliers.
Global Connect required Kiandra’s solution to meet a range of specific requirements, including:
- Highly scalable, localised public website and an agent portal running on load balanced web services and database server
- 'Cloud ready’ application code should additional capacity be required.
- Hierarchal security based on unique requirements and delegation of responsibility to agents and third parties at points of integration/
- Integration with several third parties to automate complex processes in order to:
- Conduct security checks
- Recharge pre-paid mobile phones via SMS or internet
- Request payment card balances via SMS or internet
- Request and process SIM card inventory for distribution amongst agents
- Process payment card requests for manufacture and dispatch
- Manage Secure collection and identity verification processes
- Management and tracking of workflows to ensure progression of key processes.
- Extensive auditing including several custom ‘checks and balances’.
- Management reports and tracking tools.
- Secure and reliable backup and disaster recovery.

Global Connect is a full Microsoft technology stack software application solution incorporating Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2, Visual Studio 2010, Windows Communication Foundation and Microsoft .NET 4 and ASP.NET MVC2.
