ANZPAA - Outsourced IT start-up, support and maintenance services

Established in October 2007, ANZPAA is a joint initiative of Australian and New Zealand Police Ministers and Commissioners.

ANZPAA is comprised of three directorates, Corporate and Secretariat, National Institute of Forensic Science and Strategic Services. ANZPAA provides strategic policy advice to the ANZPAA Board on cross-jurisdictional policing initiatives that help enhance community safety and security.

Kiandra was required to design and implement ANZPAA’s technology environment from green fields, as well as provide ongoing support and maintenance.

In designing the solution, it was essential that Kiandra met the infrastructure requirements of ANZPAA’s sponsoring jurisdictions. 

Reliability, data security and scalability were key factors in the design and delivery of ANZPAA’s infrastructure.

The Solution

Kiandra implemented a best practice HP BladeSystem solution and Cisco Catalyst gigabit Ethernet switches to provide a solid infrastructure platform upon which forms ANZPAA's technology environment. Four powerful c-Class blade servers running Microsoft Windows Server operating systems along with two storage blades were configured in a HP BladeSystem c3000 enclosure and are protected by Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery Server to ensure optimisation of disaster recovery operations, providing a high level of protection for ANZPAA, its operations and its data.

A tailored services agreement with Kiandra means that ANZPAA's infrastructure is proactively monitored and maintained with support delivered under a responsive Service Level Agreement (SLA).

Under the services agreement Kiandra is responsible for items such as; the coordination of IT systems and process to ensure ANZPAA is functioning appropriately at all times; liaising directly with third party IT providers; regular reporting; procedures for effective administration of IT systems; systems improvements; day-to-day management of systems; access and security; desktop and user support; set up of IT equipment for staff; systems training; licence maintenance, and ensuring optimum server, hardware and software performance.
