Startups and VC fuelled initiatives
A startup company is an organisation with a limited operating
history. These companies, often newly created, are in a phase of
development and research to enable them to trade in the particular
manner they wish. Startup companies can come in many shapes and
sizes, however the phrase "startup company" is often associated
with high growth, technology oriented organisations. Investors (or
Venture Capitalists) are generally attracted to these organisations
due to their risk/reward profile and scalability. That is, they
have lower initiation costs, and although higher risk, they have
higher potential return on investment.
Kiandra has extensive experience working with technology-based
startup ventures. We've been working with startups since the 90's,
through the dotcom boom and bust, and now into the more mature and
sensible arena that has evolved since the turning of the
century.
Business benefits
The business benefits of working with a solid and experienced
startup IT provider are enormous. If you work with a more
traditional software development house - such as ones that usually
work only with established corporates - you'll be expected to adapt
to a much more rigid development process and a structure that may
be completely inappropriate for you.
In addition, software houses not experienced in the startup
arena generally do not do 'thinking outside the box' problem
solving well. They just don't get that you are trying to build
something new here, and not just what everyone else has done.
Traditional software houses like doing what everyone else has done,
because it is safe, easy and predictable. That's not what startups
are about, and either is Kiandra.
How Kiandra delivers
At Kiandra we go the extra mile to ensure that we provide the
best solution, in the most appropriate manner for you. We
understand the balance between available budget and the target
solution. We're experienced with the exciting and often emotional
nature of startup initiatives. We've also spent over 15 years
working with VC's, marketing, PR, key stakeholders and boards.
We understand that:
- Startup business plans are usually light on detail, big on
passion
- Ideas and direction can change at any time.
- Startup entrepreneurs need a rapid prototyping method of
development, not huge technical manuals
- Startups needs guidance and support - not firm rules, red tape,
and expectations that you'll operate like a large, established
corporation.
- You'll have a desired method and style of operation, and we'll
adapt ourselves to that as much as possible while maintaining
quality and integrity.
- We understand that we don't need to 'eat all of the IT pie' -
sometimes it is appropriate to utilise outsourced resources (such
as lower-cost programmers), as long as they are closely managed and
the work is not just abdicated to them.
- And last but not least, we are very good at designing, managing
and writing custom software, websites and web applications.
Experience and certifications
Kiandra has been awarded the Microsoft
Worldwide Partner of the Year 2009 for our software
and web development skill, design and quality. We understand
startups - and how to talk to people who don't live and breathe
technology like we do. For us, a key part of developing software is
the relationship we have with our clients - being able to gain a
solid understanding of your challenges and ideas, so we can apply
our knowledge and experience to avoid potential pit falls when
planning the solution. Our team collectively holds tertiary
certificates, diplomas, degrees and masters degrees, and Microsoft
MCP, MCAD, MSQL, MCSD and MCPD certifications. All have had
satisfactory state and federal police checks - National Names Check
and/or Police and Fingerprint Search (Australian).
